MaleSurvivor: The National Organization Against Male Sexual Victimization is committed to preventing, healing, and eliminating all forms of sexual victimization of boys and men through support, treatment, research, education, advocacy, and activism. MaleSurvivor sponsors Weekends of Recovery; an online chat room and bulletin boards; resources for finding therapists and support groups; articles; a bookstore (a great place to find other books on this subject); and a biannual conference for psychotherapists, allies in healing, survivors, and their partners. Many more resources are available at this website.
1in6 offers a wealth of information and resources (including an online help line and a lending library) for men who have had unwanted or abusive childhood sexual experiences, and for those who care about them. The site is for men at various stages of information seeking and need, including those who don’t see themselves as “survivors” or their experiences as “abuse.” 1in6 also provides trainings for therapists and other professionals.
Howard Fradkin, Ph.D., LICDC has counseled over 1000 male survivors in individual, couples, group psychotherapy and weekend workshops over the course of his 30-year career as a Psychologist. As Co-Chairperson of the MaleSurvivor Weekends of Recovery, (www.malesurvivor.org) Howard has directed over 40 Weekends of Recovery since 2001 for over 850 men. Dr. Fradkin has also trained hundreds of professional colleagues on the topic of male survivors of sexual abuse. Dr. Fradkin’s first book, Joining Forces: Empowering Male Survivors to Thrive, was published by Hay House in November, 2012. In November, 2010, Dr. Fradkin was invited and honored to speak as an expert on Oprah’s historic two shows featuring 200 male survivors gathered together to offer hope and inspiration for the millions of survivors around the world.
